Small Claims Court

The Small Claims Court, a branch of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, was established to help individuals and businesses resolve minor disputes involving money and personal property in a simplified and cost-effective manner. As of October 1, 2025, the Court’s monetary jurisdiction increased from $35,000 to $50,000, allowing a broader range of claims to be pursued efficiently and affordably.

In Ontario, licensed paralegals are authorized to provide representation in all matters within the jurisdiction of the Small Claims Court. AVB Paralegal Services advocates on behalf of clients throughout the Small Claims Court process, from initiating claims to representation at trial.

We have experience handling a wide range of Small Claims Court matters, including contract disputes, unpaid invoices and accounts, construction and contractor disputes, property damage claims, and other related legal issues. We typically offer flat-fee pricing, which is generally more affordable than lawyer fees and helps clients manage their legal costs effectively.

Landlord and Tenant Board

Residential tenancy disputes are dealt with by an Administrative Tribunal called the Landlord and Tenant Board. Disputes between parties are decoded by hearings which are very much like trials, and decisions are made by Adjudicators similar to those made by Judges. AVB Paralegal Services is authorized to act as your legal representatives at the Board.

A Landlord may file an application at the Landlord and Tenant Board for non-payment of rent, late rent payment, damages, illegal acts, breach of quiet enjoyment and/or harassment, and pursue eviction. A Tenant may file an application about Tenant Rights, Maintenance, for a Rent Reduction, etc.

Whether you are a landlord or a tenant you need an experienced licensed paralegal who will be able to properly assess and present the law and facts to the Landlord and Tenant Board. You need an expert on your side.
